Morning Games (previously called Morning Drawers)

In the last couple of years, I imagine, we have all been through some changes. I have switched schools myself. Previously, I was loving the Morning Drawer concept and if you check out an old blog you will see what those were. However, with the new school came a change. Now we use the same activities, but they are in a basket for each table and the children pick from that assortment of activities.

The idea is the same just how they are available to the child has changed. I no longer use the individual drawers, though I adore that method. Logistics, classroom space, and a few other things came in to play at the new school. My kiddos are always so excited when a new basket goes on their desk each week.

Each week I rotate the games to another basket. I have four tables in my room which makes for easy rotating. Every month (except for December) we have at least four Mondays. After four rotations I set up new games. It makes my job easier and I don't have to do the daily shuffle of games like I did when they had individual drawers.

I've learned if the kids see them as fun activities or games they can't wait to do their morning work.
